We're sorry to say that is going to be our last post here on Life of Pie...for now. It has been a great and cheesy run and we would like to thank all of our followers for supporting us through this journey. We agree with Beyoncé as she said that pizza is her greatest indulgence but alas, we are finally full. So we would like to leave you with a final message that helped us continue on when we thought we couldn't take one more bite. We sincerely hope that you enjoyed following us eating pizza as much as we enjoyed eating it. Goodnight, good luck, and we love you all. Don't ever stop eating the Za. As our heroes, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles always say: Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Pizza!

This small pizza shop is a hidden gem of Pearl Street. We decided to pop in after the Rockets-Warriors game at The Lazy Dog. They claim their pizza is inspired by NY style so as one of us is a native New Yorker, there was already a lot of pressure placed on Colóre. Truthfully, any slice of pizza tastes good after a few beers but these were especially and pleasantly surprisingly good. We went with a sicilian slice and a pesto sauce slice. The pesto slice was the favorite. We wouldn't go as far to say it was as good as New York pizza, however, we both left the little shop content with our cheesy meal.
Today on this Throwback Thursday, we drop one slice in honor of the fallen pizza joints that we miss so dearly (don't worry guys, Carly will probably pick it up in 5 and eat it). Papa Romano's and Project Pie, The Hill has not been the same since you left us so quickly and unexpectedly. The zza game is just not the same nor will it ever be again. Papa Ro's: your deep dish-esque, square pizzas completed so many of our freshman and sophomore late nights and the deep bond that we made over that time is irreplaceable. Project P: Though you were only here for a short period of time, you were loved by so many and are missed by even more. Giving us the ability to build our own pie completely is something we will never forget. You believed in us and were always there when we needed you. We miss you both but know that you'd appreciate this blog acknowledging your other yummy pizza peers.
PERFECTION. They should change the name to Pizzeria Globale so that everyone in the world can taste this zza. Started out with Arancino, which are fried rissoto balls with gooey cheese inside, basically the gourmet version of mac & cheese bites. Then we dove into the Miale pie, which is made up of tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto crudo, parmigiano reggiano, and arugula, which was so good that Carly actually broke out in fluent Italian. When in Rome, right? And by Rome, we mean Pizzeria Locale because we have been to Rome and Florence and-duh-had pizza there and truthfully PL measures up just as much. Definitely numero uno on our list so far. If you are in Seattle, CO (that's a joke cause Boulder has been rainy and gloomy for 5 weeks now) and you don't stop by Pizzeria Locale then you might as well be Jon Snow cause YOU KNOW NOTHNG.
All in all, yummy yummy in our perfectly toned tummies. Catch us at CorePower doing sculpt every day basically...
Yes, that is a s'more slice of pizza next to a macaroni and cheese slice of pizza. What's better on a rainy day than comfort food...on pizza? Not much. Except, and as shameful as this is, both were so rich that we could not finish either slice. So I guess there really is a first for everything: today, we didn't eat a slice of pizza in its entirety and maybe tomorrow we'll get through a Sarah McLachlan ASPCA commercial without bawling.
All in all, the consistency of the pizza had an addictive buttery glaze to it and was overwhelming to our taste buds, in a good but intense way. Did our pizza dreams come true? Well, not entirely. Were we satisfied, full, and impressed with the vast amount of toppings and flavors offered at BLP? Definitely.
What is a night out in Boulder if it doesn't end at Cosmo's? Not a fun one, we'll tell you that much.
The large slices they quickly dish out satisfy all of the late night cravings one could ever have. But the pizza is nothing without a side of spicy ranch. Truthfully, it's not even worth getting if you don't get the spicy ranch on the side. You can even order their spicy ranch online or purchase it at Whole Foods! While Cosmo's is no gourmet, artisan slice, it meets all of our college student needs: affordable, filling, tasty, cheesy, and open late night. Thank you Cosmo's; without you, we would have faced many hangry nights.
In order to give you guys a real sense of the pizza The Sink has to offer, we decided to opt out of the "Build Your Own Pizza" and went with the menu item, Buddha Basil. If it was good enough for Guy Fieri and his frosted tips on DDD, then it is good enough for our naturally colored hair.
The Buddha Basil is overloaded (in a good way) with tomato, tofu, spinach, fresh basil, artichoke hearts and mozzarella with a pesto & tomato sauce blend. The crust is beautifully brushed with oil and sprinkled with garlic, basil, and parmesan. This pizza made us "mmmmm" out loud from the soft toppings and cheese to the crispy crust. Now before you make some sort of vegetarian, Boulder hippie assumption about the tofu, just taste it first because yum! But if you wanna be difficult, you can replace the tofu with chicken and that is also scrumptious. The menu says "sprinkled with garlic" but we are here to warn you that there are straight cloves of garlic all on that pie so unless you are Buffy or trying to rid Boulder of the Cullen take over, we would say prepare for some dental hygiene before you attempt to kiss or speak to anyone you know. |
